Ocean Mural for Custom
Shower
Details:
This mural
has two base layers of glass, then crushed glass and cut glass
accents. Each tile was placed in the kiln at least two
separate times, a total of 50 hours of firing. The 1st firing included the
two base layers of
clear with peacock blue on top, then fired up to 1475 degrees. The 2nd
firing included the crushed glass and indivually created fish, crab
and starfish, then fired up to 1375 degrees. During each firing
process the piece was annealed, which increases durability.
Annealing is a process where the glass is slowly brought down in
temperature and held at temperatures for approximately 180 minutes.

Reactive Glass Bowl &
Coaster Set
Details:
This bowl
has two layers of glass and placed in the kiln two separate times, a
total of 44 hours of firing. The 1st firing included the
clear, vanilla cream, peacock blue and clear reactive glass frit.
The bowl and coasters were fired up to 1475 degrees. The last firing
the bowl was fired up to 1330
degrees to slump into a bowl mold. During each firing process the piece was
annealed, which increases durability. Annealing is a process where
the glass is slowly brought down in temperature and held at
temperatures for approximately 90 minutes. The reactive clear
glass pieces react with the cooper in the blue glass causing it to
turn red.

Fused Sunflower Bowl
Details:
This bowl
has three layers of glass and placed in the kiln three separate
times, a total of 60 hours of firing. The 1st firing included the
clear, black and green glass and fired up to 1475 degrees. The 2nd
firing included the yellow glass with amber pebbles and fired up to
1450 degrees. The last firing the entire piece was fired up to 1330
degrees to slump into a bowl mold. During each firing process the piece was
annealed, which increases durability. Annealing is a process where
the glass is slowly brought down in temperature and held at
temperatures for approximately 90 minutes.

Fused Flower Bowl
Details:
This bowl has 2 layers of glass and placed in the kiln two separate
times, a total of 44 hours of firing. The 1st firing included the
clear glass, flower detail glass, yellow pebbles and green stringer.
This was then fired up to 1475 degrees.
The last firing the entire piece was fired up
to 1330 degrees to slump into a bowl mold. During each firing process the
piece was annealed, which increases durability. Annealing is a
process where the glass is slowly brought down in temperature and
held at temperatures for approximately 90 minutes.

Fused Kokopelli Plate
Details:
This plate has 3
layers of glass and placed in the kiln three separate times, a total
of 65 hours of firing. The 1st firing included a base layer of clear
glass, with a circular white center, red streaky ring and white
outer ring. This was then fired up to 1475 degrees. During the 2nd
firing, the kokopelli figure was cut from glass and laid on top of
white base. This was fired to 1450 degrees. The last firing the entire piece was fired up
to 1330 degrees to slump into a bowl mold. During each firing process the
piece was annealed, which increases durability. Annealing is a
process where the glass is slowly brought down in temperature and
held at temperatures for approximately 90 minutes.

Fused Candle Holder
Details:
This candle
holder has
two layers of glass and placed in the kiln two separate times, a
total of 48 hours of firing. During the 1st firing, the piece is fired to 1475 degrees
as a flat square. The last firing the entire piece was fired up to
1330 degrees while draped over a stainless steel mold. During
each firing process the piece was annealed, which increases
durability. Annealing is a process where the glass is slowly brought
down in temperature and held at temperatures for approximately 90
minutes.

Fused Coral Bowl
Details:
This coral bowl
is made of one layer of 1/4" strip pieces of glass arranged in a
coral pattern and placed in the kiln two separate times, a
total of 48 hours of firing. During the 1st firing, the piece is fired to 1475 degrees
as a flat circle. The last firing the entire piece was fired up to
1330 degrees while draped over a stainless steel mold. During
each firing process the piece was annealed, which increases
durability. Annealing is a process where the glass is slowly brought
down in temperature and held at temperatures for approximately 90
minutes.

Fused Orange Plate
Details:
This plate has
two layers of glass and placed in the kiln two separate times, a
total of 48 hours of firing. During the 1st firing, a base laryer of
white opaque glass was topped with a border of opaque orange, border
of opaque white white with a streaky catherdal orange/red center and and fired to 1475 degrees. The last firing the entire
piece was fired up to 1330 degrees to slump into a square plate mold. During
each firing process the piece was annealed, which increases
durability. Annealing is a process where the glass is slowly brought
down in temperature and held at temperatures for approximately 90
minutes.

Fused Bon Bon Plate
Details:
This plate has
two layers of glass and placed in the kiln two separate times, a
total of 48 hours of firing. During the 1st firing, two layers of
iridescent clear glass was arranged to create a circular pattern.
Then ground clear glass was gently shifted over the top of the
entire piece and fired to 1400 degrees. The last firing the entire
piece was fired up to 1330 degrees to slump into a shallow bowl mold. During
each firing process the piece was annealed, which increases
durability. Annealing is a process where the glass is slowly brought
down in temperature and held at temperatures for approximately 90
minutes.

Fused Purple Plate
Details:
This plate has
mulitple layers of glass and placed in the kiln two separate times, a
total of 48 hours of firing. During the 1st firing, clear base glass
was topped with various catherdral and opaque purple glass.
Then small square pieces of glass were placed on top for accent and
the entire project fired to 1475 degrees. The last firing the entire
piece was fired up to 1330 degrees to slump into a square mold. During
each firing process the piece was annealed, which increases
durability. Annealing is a process where the glass is slowly brought
down in temperature and held at temperatures for approximately 90
minutes.
